A Short Holiday Getaway

We did not plan this. It was sort of like an ad-hoc decision to go Ipoh for an overnight stay during the Thaipusam holiday which falls on 1st Feb. I was working on the 31st Jan, Hubby called in during the midday saying...."Okay dear, once u to finish work at 5.15pm, i need u to pack up and head home straight away". I asked him what was the rush about? To which he replied...."We are going to Ipoh this evening for an overnight stay"!!!...Gosh! I was thinking, this is the 1st trip out from Klang Valley together with Lil E.

True enough, I headed home right after i finish work and start to pack our luggage. Can u believe it?...Though this is just an overnight stay, but we had 3 luggages with us. One for both Hubby & I and the other two are packed with Lil E's essentials. I even brought along the electric jug kettle. This may sound absurd, but i rather be safe than sorry! Anyway, we started our journey at 6.45pm and reached Ipoh at about 9pm. Lil E was such a darling, she slept throughout the whole journey. After checking-in the hotel & freshened ourselves up, we headed straight for dinner. Hubby has been telling me about this stall selling fantastic Ipoh Hor Fun and finally i get to taste it. This stall is in a coffeeshop named "Cheung Kong"....sorry, i forgot the name of the street. We ordered 2 bowls of Hor Fun soup, 1 plate of taugeh and a plate of steamed chicken. The hor fun is very good, I repeat it's extremely good!! The moment i put it in my mouth, the hor fun was so soft & smooth, it literally melts in my mouth. The soup is very flavourful (direct cantonese translation : 'sweet'), can't seem to have enough of it. Now, just thinking of it makes me salivate...'slurps!...slurps!..' The taugeh is 'fat' and crispy...just the right texture when u chew it. However, the steamed chicken was so-so only. I still prefer the ones at Jln Gasing. On top of that, we oso ordered popiah and to our amazed, it taste just as good. It's somehow a little bit different from the ones we have here. The popiah we tasted has chopped long beans in it....a big thumbs up! Highly recommended, if u wanna try popiah with a 'twist'.

By the time we finished dinner, it was already close to 11.30pm. So, we headed back to our hotel and prepare Lil E for bed. We all hit the sack after giving Lil E her night feed. We had a good nite sleep and the next morning, we woke up early. Went to this coffeeshop named 'Sun Yin Loong' to have our morning booze..ie. white coffee!!! They served very good white coffee here...smooth & aromatic! I had Ipoh chee cheung fun and hubby had curry laksa to go down with our coffee. Hubby's Ipoh friend came to join us for breakfast as well. Her 7 mths baby girl came along too. Lil E had a good time entertaining the baby or maybe it's the other way round...:)

After our breakfast and bidded farewell to Hubby's fren, it was already close to 12pm. So we headed back to the hotel, rest for a while and pack our bags ready to check out. We left Ipoh around 2.30pm yesterday and reached home around 5pm. Being a good girl as she is, Lil E also slept throughout the journey back. Though it's just an overnight stay, I would say this was a fuss free trip, since it was our first time travelling with a toddler. The best thing is, I also get to taste some very yummy-licious food there....:)

Note: Sorry folks!...If u were wondering where are the photos, I didn't manage to take coz was too busy with the food!!
