My Lil E

How time flies. Our pride n joy is now 18 months old. I remember clearly how tiny & fragile she was the first time I held her close to me after given birth to her. Now, she's able to walk and run to me whenever I called for her. And the two sweet words of "Ma-ma" has never been so nice to hear until she say it to me clearly about 2 weeks ago. From then on....she's been calling me 'ma-ma' whenever she sees me and there're occassions when i wasn't at home, she'll point out the shoes or clothes and call 'ma-ma' to which she recognise it belongs to me....:)

Happy 16 Months

Our Lil E is 16 months today. Here are her updates on her developments :

Weight : 10.4kg
Teeth : Total 11 (2 upper & 1 bottom molars sprouting in addition to her 4 upper & 4 lower incisors)

Emotions
~ Lil E is extremely shy when she sees strangers looking or talking to her. She would hold up her hand and wave goodbye to them instead.

~ Up till now, she only allows 5 persons to get near or carry her ie. myself, hubby, her paternal grandma, paternal great grandma and maternal grandpa.....that's it and no one else.

~ Lil E can express herself better. If she doesn't want something, she'll shake her head & whine. When she agrees or wants something, she'd just smile/laugh out loud to us.

~ When out in the public, she prefers to walk on her own without us holding her hands. But when she want us to follow her, she'd hold our hands and pull us along.

~ Likes to open the fridge and rummage thro the stuffs in there. She would not have the strength yet to open the fridge door so she'll hold our hands and pull us to the fridge and signal us to open the door.

~ I dunno why but she is really afraid of clowns when she sees one. She would hold onto me so tightly with her arms around my neck and her head rest on my shoulder.

Likes
~ She likes to climb up & down the sofa.

~ She likes to play with the light switches (she'd request us to carry her so she could reach it).

~ Loves music and will dance to the tune.

~ She is very pally with our pet dog (Tomba). Likes to go near him and pat on his head or nose. Would sometimes offer him biscuits.

~ Loves going out, be it in our garden or at the malls. She will take her shoes for us to wear it for her. Then she'll go to the front door and point indicating she wanna go have a walk in the garden

~ She just loves climbing up & down the stairs.

~ Whenever we drive our car in to the porch, she would peered thro the front window and reach out her hands to greet us.

Bag of Tricks
~ On days when she is tricky, she would hide her pacifier under our pillow on purpose before turning back to us and shrugged her shoulders with both her hand lifted up signalling "it's lost" or "i can't find it".

~ When any one of us at home coughed or sneezed, she would follow suit by mimicking the sound eg. forced herself to cough out loud as if trying to clear her throat.

Food/Feeding
~ She has 2 solid meals and 3 x 5oz of milk daily.

~ Solid meals or snacks consist of chicken/pork/fish porridge, macaroni cooked in ikan bilis stock with veges, yoghurt, bread, biscuits/crackers, papaya, apple, banana.

~ She loves eating rice. She'll usually sit down with us during dinner time and we would give her some rice with some of the dishes we're having like fish, potatoes, eggs, braised chicken or pork and veges (which we cut into small pieces using the scissors just for her food).

~ Oh yeah.......she LOVES to drink soup, prepared in the asian cooking ways eg. ABC soup, Lotus roots soup, 'Kau-Kei' with eggs & fishballs soup etc.....

Hey, What's Cooking

I guess it's every mommy's headache when they have mealtime wars with their toddlers and I'm not exempted unfortunately! U see, for the past weeks, there is a decline in appetite in Lil E. She would refuse the food that we've (painstakingly) prepared for her, even her all-time favourites MILK, she would sometimes reject. This really caused a concern to all of us at home. We later found out the reason behind this could be due to her teething blues. We spotted her 2 upper molars coming up which make her uncomfortable and a loss in appetite.

But thank God, our girl resumes her appetite this week and she is eating well since then. We were so relieved to see Lil E accepts whatever food offered to her. So today, I decided to cook something different for Lil E apart from her usual chicken/fish porridge or the soupy macaroni.

As seen here in the picture, the menu for today is braised chicken thigh (cut into cubes) with carrots & potatoes. The verdict......Lil E loveeeess it!!.....Keep this up my girl..:)

A Short Holiday Getaway

We did not plan this. It was sort of like an ad-hoc decision to go Ipoh for an overnight stay during the Thaipusam holiday which falls on 1st Feb. I was working on the 31st Jan, Hubby called in during the midday saying...."Okay dear, once u to finish work at 5.15pm, i need u to pack up and head home straight away". I asked him what was the rush about? To which he replied...."We are going to Ipoh this evening for an overnight stay"!!!...Gosh! I was thinking, this is the 1st trip out from Klang Valley together with Lil E.

True enough, I headed home right after i finish work and start to pack our luggage. Can u believe it?...Though this is just an overnight stay, but we had 3 luggages with us. One for both Hubby & I and the other two are packed with Lil E's essentials. I even brought along the electric jug kettle. This may sound absurd, but i rather be safe than sorry! Anyway, we started our journey at 6.45pm and reached Ipoh at about 9pm. Lil E was such a darling, she slept throughout the whole journey. After checking-in the hotel & freshened ourselves up, we headed straight for dinner. Hubby has been telling me about this stall selling fantastic Ipoh Hor Fun and finally i get to taste it. This stall is in a coffeeshop named "Cheung Kong"....sorry, i forgot the name of the street. We ordered 2 bowls of Hor Fun soup, 1 plate of taugeh and a plate of steamed chicken. The hor fun is very good, I repeat it's extremely good!! The moment i put it in my mouth, the hor fun was so soft & smooth, it literally melts in my mouth. The soup is very flavourful (direct cantonese translation : 'sweet'), can't seem to have enough of it. Now, just thinking of it makes me salivate...'slurps!...slurps!..' The taugeh is 'fat' and crispy...just the right texture when u chew it. However, the steamed chicken was so-so only. I still prefer the ones at Jln Gasing. On top of that, we oso ordered popiah and to our amazed, it taste just as good. It's somehow a little bit different from the ones we have here. The popiah we tasted has chopped long beans in it....a big thumbs up! Highly recommended, if u wanna try popiah with a 'twist'.

By the time we finished dinner, it was already close to 11.30pm. So, we headed back to our hotel and prepare Lil E for bed. We all hit the sack after giving Lil E her night feed. We had a good nite sleep and the next morning, we woke up early. Went to this coffeeshop named 'Sun Yin Loong' to have our morning booze..ie. white coffee!!! They served very good white coffee here...smooth & aromatic! I had Ipoh chee cheung fun and hubby had curry laksa to go down with our coffee. Hubby's Ipoh friend came to join us for breakfast as well. Her 7 mths baby girl came along too. Lil E had a good time entertaining the baby or maybe it's the other way round...:)

After our breakfast and bidded farewell to Hubby's fren, it was already close to 12pm. So we headed back to the hotel, rest for a while and pack our bags ready to check out. We left Ipoh around 2.30pm yesterday and reached home around 5pm. Being a good girl as she is, Lil E also slept throughout the journey back. Though it's just an overnight stay, I would say this was a fuss free trip, since it was our first time travelling with a toddler. The best thing is, I also get to taste some very yummy-licious food there....:)

Note: Sorry folks!...If u were wondering where are the photos, I didn't manage to take coz was too busy with the food!!

Our Very Own Dancing Queen

Happy 14th Months

Our little jewel officially turns 14 months today. Its been quite a while since I last update on Lil E's progress. So here goes:

Weight : 9.6kg
Height : 76cm
Teething : Lil E cut her lower & upper lateral incisors about 2 mths ago. Altogether she now has 4 upper teeths & 4 lower teeths.

>Mobility

~ Lil E could now walk very well. Sometimes she even resorts to a little running. With this newly acquired skill, she enjoys exploring the whole hse from the living hall way back to the wet kitchen and even into the toilets.

~ Climbing up & down the stairs while holding to the railings of the stairs and with our assistance.

>Feeding/Food
~ Used to love eating porridge but not anymore..:( Ever since she turn 1 year old, she just refuse to eat porridge...Oh!!..how i reminisce those times whenever i offered her porridge, she would open her mouth wide open.

~ Breads & biscuits are her favourite food and nowadays since she doesn't take her porridge anymore, these has become her 3 solid meals taken together with her daily 5 oz milk, 4 times a day. In between she snacks on fruits like apples, yoghurt and some bite size cheese.

~ Usually during dinner, I would give her some of the food we are eating like some steamed egg; tofu; steamed or fried fish fillet and a few spoonful of soft rice.

>Emotions & Characters

~ Getting more & more mischievous nowadays. Likes meddling with the electrical cables and points at home eventhough we've told her numerous times not to. I've threathened her before with the 'rotan' and she will stop for a while...but still go ahead with it when we turned our back.

~ Loves mimicking our actions eg. stirring an empty cup with a spoon and then drink from the cup. This I guess she learns from her grandma. Coz her grandma's morning ritual is to have a cuppa at the dining table. Lil E will be with her of course having her morning snack of bread or biscuits. Lil E picks it up from there, I guess

~ Always want immediate attention, or else her shouting session will start. Showing some toddler tantrums nowadays by crying 'crocadile tears', stomping her feet and shouting.

~ Tend to be quite sociable with strangers (so far only with children) now. She will look at the other children with close eye to eye contact and touch their face or hands and babbles her baby language to them.

~ Has a special penchant for music. Her face will lit up and smile whenever she hears any kinds of music. She will also starts to swing her arms and dance to the accompanying music. Also likes to play with the piano by pressing the keys one by one with her fingers.

~ She tends be very manja with her daddy. Whenever she sees her daddy around, she'll call out pa-pa in a very sweet and soft voice. This girl really knows how to 'melt' her daddy's heart.

~ Starts to get close to our pet dog Tomba. She's not afraid to go near him now. On a few occassions she even wanted to poke her finger into Tomba's nose, this may be her own way of saying hello but we stopped her half way. Also, she likes to share her food of bread or biscuits with Tomba. This we also have to stop her from doing it each time. Hope the two of them could be the best of mates in the near future.

>Language
~ So far, could only say pa-pa, mum-mum (referring to food) & ma-ma (1st time today). The rest she babbles on with her own baby language.

Monday, 11.12.06

It was a holiday for the state of Selangor on 11.12.06. Hence, both HuBBy & I does not need to go to work on that day. Since no special plans were made for that day, decided to follow HuBBy to run some errands in Sri Damansara. Lil E tag along of course. After the errands, on our way back, we decided to stop by The Curve for lunch and also shopping. The christmas decor there were beautiful....really like their combination of dark blue, turqoise and silver christmas props. Realised I love to look at christmas decorations in shopping malls. Oh well, only once a year we get to enjoy it.

Had lunch at Marche. HuBBy ordered a pasta for himself and I had a lamb steak and a bowl of mushroom soup to share with Lil E. She loves the soup a lot!! We were so hungry that we 'dived' in as soon as our food arrived. So, no pics of our food here.

At Marche's kids play area. What was Lil E staring at the end of the slides??....She was staring at some colourful balloons strewn all over the floor

On our way out, a waiter gave Lil E a balloon. She was excited to get the balloon, she was holding it the whole time.

Too bad the balloon burst coz Lil E has been dragging it on the floor while walking around with it. But still, she holds the stick and refuse to pass it to us.

Twins' Birthday Party

On Sunday, we attended a birthday party of a friend's pair of twin girls at her condo in D'sara Perdana. We reached there quite early, so we toured around the place. The party was held by the condo's poolside. My friend even called in a clown to entertain the kids there with magic shows and make balloons in kinds of shapes. Lil E got 2 balloons...a poodle shaped balloon and a flower shaped balloon. Being the youngest kid there, she was quite oblivious of what's happenning esp. during the magic shows. But she knows when is the cue to clap her hands after each magic performance ended....:) ...Too bad mommy was busy eating (hehe!) and chatting with some other frens there and somehow forgot to take photographs of the party. Only managed to take one or two pics when we were at the playground before the party starts.

Once again......"Aunty SU3 would like to wish HAPPY 4th BIRTHDAY to both JUN & KEI. May the both of u grow up healthy and be happy always".

At the playground

Lil E holding a balloon made by Mr Clown

Not too sure what she's pointing this time??....Could be the kids playing at the wading pool.

Annual Dinner & Dance 06

It was a weekend full of activities for mommy last week. I attended the company's annual dinner & dance on Saturday (16/12/06). The even was held at Sunway Resort Hotel. Earlier of the day, I've made a appointment with the hairstylist to style my hair. Well, it turned out okay but somehow the curls did not last and fell flat halfway thro the dinner. Oh well, it was my 1st attempt to have some curls and it was nice try indeed..:) Anyway, i've posted up some photos of the dinner here:

All set & ready to go...!!!

Group Photo

"Sticky Patch"

Lil E is growing more & more attached to HuBBy these days. For eg. when HuBBy is in the bathroom, Lil E will wait outside the bathroom door and keeps banging on the door until he comes out!....No wonder, even Lil E's first word is "Papa".

Hullo!!!.....Papa, are you in there??.......

Jingle Bells...Jingle Bells....

Both HuBBY & I along with Lil E went on a 'jalan-jalan cari makan' spree on Sunday. We decided to go Subang Parade since it's nearby and the mall recently had a facelift and of course one thing I liked best about this place is it's stroller friendly as well ie. they have ramps connecting to each floors. So its easy for us parents with kids on strollers.

Upon stepping into the mall, we could immediately felt the christmas spirit with the place nicely done up with christmas decorations. After dinner, we took a stroll and mommy can't resist in taking some pics of the christmas decor. We also had the chance to watch a group of carolers performed and to my surprise...it's my first time hearing the christmas songs being sung in B.M.

Can u see the carolers?...sorry mommy doesn't have good photography skills..;P

Lil E was so excited when we reach Toys R Us ....do u know why?? Becos, there's a mini play area just outside the entrance of Toys R Us and there were many kids crowding around the area. Managed to find a spot or shd i call it a little play hse for Lil E to roam in. She was having a fun time exploring it...

Up So Early?

Gooooooood Morning!!!....Yeah, was asking myself, why am I up so early...it's a Sunday, a precious day of the week and a perfect one to sleep late. But, I just couldn't sleep...!!!...Wish I could..!! Maybe I'm still a bit shaky due to the car accident I was involved in yesterday afternoon. However, there are 2 very important details i've learnt thro this incident. No matter how careful you are as a driver, putting on the seat belt (yes, I did put it on) and having a car seat for your child is very, very important, coz you'll never know where & when out of a sudden, these reckless drivers may hit you. Anyway, do not wanna dwell too much of details on this matter. Don't worry, I'm safe & sound here but I do not wanna think the otherwise if I have not put on the belt or if Lil E is with me in the car at the time of the accident.
On a lighter note, I was up this early probably because I'm excited of the agenda that I'll be doing shortly. I'll be going to Church for their morning service with both huBBy and Lil E. Yup!!...u read correctly, I am going to church and I pledge to go on a weekly basis. To all of u who knew me for years will be quite surprised on hearing this. I was, all this while not a Christian faith. But now I am and including huBBY. We're happy that we've finally accepted Christ. With this new found faith, hope it can give me guidance along the way when it comes to raising Lil E.
Alright, got to go get myself and the two fellas who're still sleeping ready for this outing. You have a good day and a blessed week ahead...:)

Updates on Lil E

This is a backdated post. Should've post this in 1 week ago, when Lil E officially turns ONE. Nevertheless, here goes:

Weight ~ 9.12kg
Height ~ 75cm
Teeth ~ 5 (2 on top & 3 at the bottom)

Walking
2 days after she celebrated her 1st birthday, Lil E took her first few steps. Both HuBBY & I witnessed her 'stunts' and boy, we were so happy we caught her 1st steps. But she walks clumsily though. She may trip and fall onto her backside or falls to the front but she's good at breaking the fall by putting her hands forward so she'll land on her knees with her palms on the floor. She really enjoys walking coz whenever we are carrying her, she signalled to be put down onto floor by making some noises and pointing to the floor. When we wanna pick her up, she'll whine and make a a big fuss.

Food/Feeding
Lil E is always interested in whatever food that we eat. Each time we have something to eat, she'd walk over to us, point at the food that we're eating & gestured she wants to have some too.
She has 2 solid meals a day and 3 x 7oz of milk daily. In between she'd have some snacks, she loves bread. We also started giving her a little bit of table food like some steamed egg, steamed tofu & half of a hard boiled egg. Our paed gave us the go-ahead and even encouraged us on letting her try these foods as long as the texture is soft so that Lil E will not choked.

Likes/Dislikes
~ Our little one likes to grab and lifts all kinds of objects that fancies her. She loves to turn the pages of magazines (esp. the astro guide) maybe due to the colourful pages. Also, she likes to grab hold of the tv/astro/dvd remote control and will aimed it at the tv as if trying to mimic the adults on changing tv channels.

~ She starts to love watching TV/Astro programmes esp. cartoons & children's sing-along shows like Barney and of course the commercials.

~ Lil E enjoys playing with us by touching our face, poking into our nose and eyes or sometimes she'll even put her fingers into our mouth to feel the teeth. She'll be laughing out loud while doing these little actions. U may find this 'activity' weird but she surely enjoys it esp before she goes to sleep. Maybe this has been a little ritual before her bedtime.

~ She can be a bit of a busy-body and is best at rummaging my handbag. She will first turn the bag over & pour the contents out as if wanting to inspect what's in there. Then after playing with all the 'contents' and got bored of it, she'll then hold the bag & stood up and starts to walk around the room with the bag in hand. If it happens to be a bigger handbag, she will not have the strength to hold it up but she'll resorts by dragging the bag on the floor. She tend to have this look of authority while walking with the bag in hand.

~ However, Lil E dislikes being restrained in her playpen for too long and will want to move about freely unless she is tired or it is around her naptime.
~ When its raining, she will showed us that she is afraid when there's thunder by giving us this scared look on her face while patting her chest lightly with her hand. We then need to go over and give her a big bear hug for assurance.

Ring!...Ring!...Telephone!
She probably has seen us using the house telephone , as she loves to pick up the receiver & babbles into the telephone. A short while, she'll then put the receiver back and picks it up & babbles into it again. This can go on & on a few times in a row.

Dancing Queen

Lil E loves to dance whenever she hears any kinds of music. As long as there's a tune, she'll be dancing along. Her usual dance moves are by bouncing up & down (by bending her knees) & swing both her hands left & right, all in coordinated movements. She'd give us a big smile while dancing and won't fail to amuse us daily with this antics of hers.

Pain....Pain....
Since she is still walking a bit clumsily, sometimes she would walk & knock her head into the wall or the furniture. She would then gestured us by whining and patting the back of her head even though the part she knocked into was her forehead. As and when we said the word pain....pain....she would understand it by touching the back of her head.

Lil E's 1st B'day Party

We threw a party to celebrate Lil E's 1st birthday which falls on 11th Nov. Coincidentally, it's a Saturday, a perfect day to hold a party...:). We started planning for this party about a month ago. A caterer was called in to prepare for the night's buffet style dinner. The b'day cake were ordered a week before at a cake shop in Sunway. HuBBy wanted it to be special, so he changed some designs and colours & tells the shop operator that he wants it bigger. Said that, a 3 kg cake made its way to Lil E's party.
Since we wanted a relatively small party, hence we're not able to invite all our relatives (esp. mommy's side) and friends. This we greatly apologized. A handsful of hubby's close relative and mommy's immediate family were invited. Not to mentioned some of our close friends as well. A great deal of photos were taken to capture the night's event and has been posted in this blog for your pleasure viewing.
